This 3-day weekend we spent two days camping in Kent, Connecticut with the Roebuck's and one day playing around the city and watching some distant fireworks from the Liu's apartment.
The camping was really fun. We did the same stint as last year. 1.5 days with the Roebuck's, 2 hikes, 1 night in a tent. Pretty low key. While last time we saw lots of wildlife, this year we saw lots of mushrooms. They were everywhere and all sorts of different varieties. Caden got to light his first fire.
On Monday, July 4th, we took a new ferry up to Long Island City in Queens. We've been up there before but not by boat. First we had lunch where you tried snails for the first time. I've been talking to you about them for a while. At first when I said we can eat snails you thought I was joking. But you ended up trying them no problem. Then we walked along the waterfront and stopped by a playground. We took the boat back to Dumbo and had a rest before heading to the Liu's for a rooftop party. The fireworks view was bad but the sunset made up for it.
