On Saturday I flew to Canada for a week-long hiking trip. I turn 40 next month, so I wanted to get back into shape and lose those extra 10 pounds that I have been carrying since having Caden and you. Before leaving for the airport early Saturday morning, I left out a few Easter treats - some toys that you picked out last weekend, a basket full of Easter eggs (filled with Hershey's egg-shaped chocolates), and a fancy chocolate bunny from Jacques Torres. Daddy mentioned you guys might be sick of eating chocolate after overloading on it today - I doubt Caden has lost his taste for chocolate.
It is beautiful here in Nelson, British Columbia, which is a 4 hour drive north of Spokane, Washington. I miss living in the Pacific Northwest with the amazing views of water/lakes, snow-capped mountains, and lots of tall trees. Here is a view from the balcony of the lodge.
Day 1 Hike: This morning, we tested out using hiking poles and carrying backpacks with Platypus water packs for a short 2 hour hike. The weather was perfect - cool 60 degrees and sunny! I hope it lasts.
Day 2 Hike: We hiked along old railroad tracks along a lake and up to a beautiful waterfall. This trip reminds of hiking that Daddy and I did around Seattle before you two were born.
I miss you guys especially at night time and our early morning cuddles. Instead, someone knocks on my door at 6AM to get us up for our 6:30AM yoga. Hope you two are being good and listening well to Daddy and Myra while I am away - see you in a few days!
