Family Share

Your class is doing a "Family Share" project this year. Each week someone's family comes in and talks about something you do as a family.

Today was your day. Both mommy and I came in. Our 'something' was science experiments. So we did two in the class that we've done before.
  1. Sodium Polyacrylate Experiment. This is the experiment where we show how diapers work. We cut open diapers and shake out the crystals of sodium polyacrylate. Then we add a small amount to a lot of water and it turns into a gel. It's always amazing how little you need to solidify the water.
  2. Corn Starch Experiment. We did the experiment where we mix corn starch and water which makes a suspension that behaves likes both a liquid and a solid. When you move it fast it solidifies. When you move it slowly it behave like a liquid.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the two experiments and thought it was funny we were talking about diapers and pee.
