We took a short vacation to Bermuda this long weekend. None of us have been before and I was surprised to realize on the map that it' basically off the east side of the US rather than down in the Caribbean with all the other "tropical islands". It was a very short ride down. It took about 1.5 hours to fly there. We arrived at night and stayed at a pretty posh British themed hotel called the Fairmont. Bermuda used to be a British colony so we got to have some British themed items.
These would include ginger beer. Both of you and mommy loved this drink. It's related to the American ginger ale but much better. It's basically a sugar pop drink with a distinct ginger taste. Ginger ale just tastes like sugar and it's awful. We also stopped at a British pub one day and had shepard's pie (meat stew with mashed potatoes), bangers and mash (English sausages and mashed potatoes), and fish and chips (french fries). Everything was yummy.
For the rest of the trip we mainly stayed at the pool and down on the beach. On the last day we found a wonderful cove called Horseshoe Bay. It had a great protected area off to the right that kept the waves to a minimum and we were able to feed some of the fish in that area. The main beach area was windy and a little too choppy for you guys.
We also took a boat trip to the main city of Hamilton and on the last night went to a restaurant on a pristine beach.
Thanks mommy for a great trip.
