Today is Father's Day. Mommy got me a nice DVD documentary of New York and plans for brunch too. Before we ate we all went over to see the new High Line. It's an elevated section of train track that used to bring the cattle into the meatpacking district. Very little meat is processed there now. It's converted into a hip neighborhood. They were going to tear down the elevated track but instead they turned it into a kind of park/walkway.
Here's the entrance on the south side. This is one of a few ways to get up.
And this is looking down on the way we came. It's a nice view.
And here's what it looks like on top. Pretty.
They left some of the railroad track to remind people what it used to be.
This hotel, The Standard, is built right over the High Line.
Another way up to the walkway.
There were lots of nice views of the streets below.
Time for a break.
Another pretty street with red brick buildings.
This was an odd section of the park. It looked like an ampitheatre but when you walked all the way to the bottom, instead of a stage...
There was a view of the street over which we were suspended. It was quite nice.
Lots of room to run around.
Time for brunch.
For brunch we went to John Dory which is a seafood place. Since we were first they gave us the best seat in the house right next to the aquarium.
Caden got to sit next to the "cow eel" as you called it.
And you got the tiger fish.
Nice drawings by you.
The food was very good. We had raw oysters, bacon, fish & chips, an oyster and proscuitto 'Hangtown Fry', potato pancakes with roe and salmon, and beignets (donuts). It was all very good. You even had two of the oysters. You are a very adventurous eater.
