First Sleepover with Carter

Tonight while I was at my 10-year business school reunion, you had your first sleepover at Carter’s house. While we were on our ski trip, Carter mailed an invitation asking if you could sleep over – check it out.

A few weeks ago, you went home with Carter and her mom Karen for an afterschool playdate. The two of you had so much fun that Karen offered to have you spend the night one day. That day finally came. We dropped you off on Saturday afternoon – Caden had fallen asleep in the car. When he woke up, he was very confused because you were not in your carseat. He kept saying ‘phia’ over and over – he missed you already.

While I was at my reunion and you were at Carter’s house, Daddy and Caden went to the park that evening. When I got home around 1:30AM, Daddy was still awake playing with his iphone in bed. I noticed a bandaid on his phone and a black eye. Oh no – what happened? I thought Caden punched him accidentally but the real story is that Daddy crashed into a low bar at the park. It was getting dark and he thought Caden was going to fall – he raced to catch Caden’s fall and did not see the low bar which was at eye level. OUCH! Poor Daddy.

The next morning, we drove to Carter’s house for brunch. When we arrived, you were dressed as Cinderella! You had a fun sleepover filled with princess activities, including taking mermaid baths with the Ariel princess bath toys you gave to Carter for her birthday.

Karen made yummy lentil soup and blueberry muffins.

Caden preferred to play with all of Carter’s toys instead of eating.

After lunch, you asked Karen to put some make-up on your face. Karen put on blue eyeshadow, but you went a bit crazy with the pink lipstick.

You loved it! I still wonder how you have become such a girly-girl. . . .

After lunch, both Caden and you fell asleep in the car within minutes of pulling away from Carter’s house. Karen mentioned that it took over an hour for Carter and you to fall asleep – for the first 30 minutes, you two were giggling in bed. Both of you were squirming around and could not fall asleep. Finally around 10PM, you asked Karen if you could sleep in your Dora sleeping bag and both of you were sound asleep in minutes. I thought you might wake up late since you fell asleep so late, but Carter woke up early at 6AM because she was so excited to keep playing you. Next time, Carter will spend the night at our house. What a fun sleepover!
