Spring Skiing in Deer Valley

We just returned from a week in Deer Valley for Spring Break. We had a great time traveling with the Munsells - Aimee and Greg and their two kids, Jeffrey (7) and Caroline (3). Luckily we even had 2 days of new snow during our vacation.

Last Saturday early in the morning, we flew to Salt Lake City, Utah. Fortunately I booked us 3 first class seats so we were quite comfortable. Caden fell asleep on Daddy mid-flight after watching videos on Daddy's iphone.

Daddy made Caden a mohawk while he were sleeping. How funny. You were content to watch Madagascar on the airplane or videos on my iphone.

Our flight arrived on time and we rented a car to drive to Deer Valley. Our friends were out skiing and both of you fell asleep in the car, so we dropped our stuff in the condo and ran a few errands - lunch, Walmart and Whole Foods for groceries. In the afternoon, since it was relatively warm outside, we played in the outdoor swimming pools with a waterslide. You were quite daring and enjoyed sliding down into the pool (though you tumbled under the water a few times). Caden also enjoyed riding down the waterslide with me, and I tried to keep his head above water.

On Sunday, we went skiing - Daddy and I were impressed with your skiing. This is your second year of skiing at Deer Valley - last year, you took 1-hour private lessons while in ski school. This year, in ski school, the instructor took you and another kid out for 2.5 hours each day.

You were fearless on skis!

After skiing, we went back to the condo for apres-ski. Caroline and you played with some toys while Caden ran around the condo with Jeffrey.

Caden is still too young for ski school so he just played in the daycare center all day long. Caden also enjoyed playing with Jeffrey and Caroline after bath time. Here he is coloring with them.

The next day, it was another sunny day. We found you on the bunny hill and rode up on the chairlift behind you. This time your instructor took you on a longer chairlift up to the blue (intermediate) runs.

Check this out - WOW, Sophia!

After watching you go down the blue run, Daddy and I took off for another chairlift. It was another great day of Spring skiing.

After skiing, Jeffrey, Caroline and you did some art projects - Aimee brought some painting sets. What fun!

For two nights, we hired a babysitter (Jackie) to watch the kids while the parents went out to dinner on Main Street in Park City. You were just happy to watch DVDs while we went out.

On Thursday after two days of fresh snow fell, we skied through the trees - it was an amazing time finding our way down the hill through tall trees with no one else around us.

Check out how steep this hill was!

Overall it was a great week of Spring skiing. Before we headed to the airport, we took a few family shots on the deck. We'll probably return to Deer Valley next year too!

Daddy will also post some videos of you skiing later.

Here they are
