Natural History Museum

Today we went to the Natural History Museum in the Upper West Side.  We met up with your friend Gordon and his family.  We got there a little early so we goofed around outside.

We all have funny hats now to keep us warm.

It has really gotten chilly in New York the last few weeks so I’m glad we didn’t have to wait around outside for long.

Family shot!

Finally we got inside and headed straight for the dinosaur exhibit on the fourth floor.  This was the biggest one.  It had a huge tale that went on and on to a very small tip at the end.  They had a nice walkway behind it so you could get up close.  There’s Gordon.

Here’s Gordon trying to stare down the turtle.

Overall you were all a little bored with the exhibit and had more fun running around.

And Caden got a little tired too.

We then moved onto the exhibit we really wanted to see – butterflies.  We had to walk through a double door to get into an enclosed atrium with the butterflies inside.  They were everywhere and landing on everyone too.

This lady was feeding a big brown butterfly so you could see it up close.

And this giant one was perched on a tree.  I forgot to take a photo of an interesting exhibit that had the butterflies in their chrysalis.  One of them struggled to get out while we were there.  They then flap their wings slowly to dry them off before they can fly.

After that we headed across the street for lunch.  We made a huge mess on the floor.  The food wasn’t great but you two were full at the end.
