Well Christmas has arrived. You were the first one up. 5:30AM! You were wandering around the apartment. We brought you into bed and waited for Caden to wake up which was around 7:00AM.
The first thing we did was head out into the kitchen. There was a strange red ribbon coming out of your room and it wound through our bedroom, to Caden’s room, to the kitchen, and to the dining table. This is what we saw there. Looks like Santa had some of the cookies and milk and liked them.
Let’s keep following the ribbon. It then went through the family room…
And to the tree. What is this?! Presents! Lots of presents!
We spent the next hours or so opening everyone’s presents. Caden’s big presents were a Thomas the Train Engine table with some wooden train tracks and cars, a latch puzzle (below), and a Tonka truck. He seemed to like the train stuff the most.
And you got your two big presents – a Sleeping Beauty DVD and a Sleeping Beauty doll that lights up when you put the 3 fairies on her hand.
Everyone seemed to like the new train table. Santa must have had a dickens of a time hauling that up and assembling it. I’m surprised he didn’t wake everyone up.
Then it was on to dinner. You helped me with some of the cooking. We made a standing rib roast, potatoes au gratin, creamed spinach, a pear/apple/endive salad with a bleu cheese dressing, and for dessert a triple coconut cream pie.
Oh yea. You also got a camera which you spent all day using.
Here’s the rib roast. We had a minor emergency when our trusty meat thermometer blew a fuse and stopped working. It is almost impossible to cook meat correctly without a thermometer. Luckily mommy was able to find an analog thermometer down at the corner store. I had to do some rigging of it since it didn’t go down to the temperature I wanted to take the meat out. But luckily it all worked out and the meat was excellent.
The rest of the day was spent watching DVDs and having a tea party. Merry Christmas!
