You look very excited to be heading to LA. You love to see your cousins.
Caden is still a little too young to remember his cousins or know who they are. But how bad can life be when you get a 1st class seat?
As soon as we landed, we got our rental car and you two zonked out immediately.
In order to let you sleep a while, we drove around. Los Angeles is an amazing city for residential architecture. Frank Lloyd Wright has quite a few homes in the area. On the way there, we stopped by Mommy's high school which she claims has changed quite a bit.
Then you both woke up and we headed to Apple Pan for a hamburger. I had heard good thing but it wasn't anything remarkable. "I'll take cheeseburger please."
It was a real old school hamburger place with a traditional California style hamburger.
We then stopped by to see a few more of Frank Lloyd Wright's homes. Look at this crazy cantilevered house.
Then we were off to Santa Monica beach which we normally visit when we're in LA.
You were very excited to get to water.
Caden took a little longer. He wasn't used to the sand.
I spent time watching our things while you two went out into the water with Mommy. Pretty soon we'll be seeing the beach again for our vacation.
I had a nice time laying back and relaxing.
It was a beautiful day.
That night we went to Pizzeria Mozza. We went to the prime restaurant Mozza last time and had a wonderful meal. This place was really good too. You loved the mushroom pizza we ordered.
The next morning when we headed out it was an amazing sight in Los Angeles. It really must be the city of angels.
We were on our way to see your cousins, Sarah and Scott.
We stopped off at Whole Foods to pick up some breakfast. We bought a lot of food!
Caden seems to like coffee.
And cars.
Then we headed to the Griffith Observatory. Griffith was a Welsh-American who made a lot of money in mining. He actually spent time in prison for trying to shoot his wife to death. Afterwards he gave land and money to the city to build the observatory. It's really a beautiful place and the buildings are gorgeous. It was also a main feature in the movie Rebel Without A Cause. It's called an observatory because you can observe the sky with the telescopes located there. Although we didn't get a chance to see through them, there were smaller ones outside.
You can see the Hollywood sign off in the distance.
Family shot. You were pouting off to the side.
Here's a nice view of LA. Look at that smog!
One of the buildings housing a telescope.
Caden trying to push you off the ledge. "Nooooooooo!"
There was walkway around the outside that looked out on LA.
Then another Frank Lloyd Wright house. This one had been renovated. It was in a shambles last time I saw it.
Apart from the birthday party that was it. A quick trip. You and I headed home on Sunday morning, and Caden stayed with Mommy for a few extra days in LA. She had some work to do in LA. On the way home, Mommy got you a sticker book to play with and we watched Horton Hears a Who on the video players in 1st class.
