The Yellow Room - 1st Day of Preschool

Today was your first day of preschool at Brooklyn Friends. You were so excited to wear your new yellow dress to match the Yellow Room. Check out your new Ariel backpack too - it's almost as big as you are! Also notice your ballerina pose in many photos these days.

I blocked my calendar so that I could take you to the juice party for the first day of school. The teachers call the first two weeks the phase-in period so that you slowly get adjusted to the new class, new teachers and other students. Since you attended summer camp at Brooklyn Friends, I am sure you will adjust very quickly. Last night, you were so excited for school to finally start!

You enjoyed seeing one of your classmates from Plymouth named Carter. You played with yellow play-doh and also checked out the collection of seashells (you put them to your ear to "hear the ocean").

You also built a rainbow house with legos and played with a train set with the other boys in the class.

The class ended with small cups of juice and crackers - the teachers helped all of the kids pour their own juice.

Finally it was story time - your teacher Suzanne read a book called Spot Goes to School and then we were dismissed. What a fun morning in the Yellow Room!

Last week your new teachers, Suzanne and Amber, visited our house before school started. You showed them your Ariel sheets, your favorite toys and read two books with them, The Little Mermaid and Kitten's First Full Moon.

Caden joined in the fun too, but he has to wait another year before he can start in the Family Center at Brooklyn Friends.
