We Love LA!

For Memorial Day weekend, we flew to LA to visit your grandparents and to celebrate Caden's first birthday. We rented a house near Beverly Hills - first, Caden and you decided to check out the backyard.

We waited for Granny and Grandpa to arrive in the evening - the traffic in LA is terrible. We arrived at 1PM and it took us an hour to drive from the airport which normally takes 15 minutes without traffic!

After your grandparents arrived, we went out to a casual dinner in Culver City -both Caden and you fell asleep in the car around 6:30PM because it was 9:30PM in New York. Caden napped in the stroller while you cuddled up in the booth - not a peep from either of you for the rest of the night.

This morning, we had breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel - Granny was so excited. On the drive, we passed some street with lovely jacaranda trees. Granny asked Grandpa to plant one at their house in Arizona. Check out this beautiful street full of jacarandas.

You also noticed many palm trees around the hotel. We walked around the tennis courts and the pool before we sat down - Granny envisioned all of the celebrities who have stayed at the hotel and lounged around the pool.

We enjoyed a nice breakfast at the Polo Lounge - no celebrity sightings at 10AM though. After breakfast, we dropped Granny and Grandpa at The Grove and LA Farmers Market while we drove up to Oxnard to visit Hal-mo-ni and Hal-ah-bo-ji. On the way there, we stopped at the outlet mall to buy a birthday present for Hal-mo-ni. Caden and you had fun at Hal-mo-ni's house. We also tried on Caden's and your han-bok for the birthday party on Sunday night. You have grown a lot since you last wore your hanbok so it was too short!

Looks good, Caden!

Hal-mo-ni cooked us a big dinner and then we drove back to LA. You ate a lot of strawberries, kal-bi and corn. Both Caden and you fell asleep as soon as we got onto the freeway.

On Sunday morning after breakfast at home, we went for a drive to check out several notable architectural sites around LA that Daddy wanted to see. First stop was a house in Hollywood Hills - we could not drive near the house but we had a great view of Downtown LA.

Next stop was Union Station in Downtown and a quick walk up to Olvera Street. On the way home, we drove through the 2nd Street Tunnel - it has been used for several movies and music videos. We also checked out some buildings in Downtown LA before heading home.

In the afternoon, you also noticed that the little birdie who was hobbling around the backyard was dead. The bird could not fly so he probably could not find any food. You tried to scare aware all of the predators while we were home, but the birdie died the next day. Poor birdie!
