Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

We had a fun Saturday today. You've been a good girl lately with your potty training. You are almost fully potty trained. Each time you go potty you get a little treat. Two treats you received recently are a bubble maker and a kite. It was a nice day out today so we put them to good use.

Even daddy had a go since I don't recall getting any treats when I was potty trained.

And mommy had another bubble maker. You just squeeze the belly of the pink bear and a bubble maker pops out.

Then we went out near the edge of the water where it was windy and set up the kite. It flew pretty well.

You even got to fly it all by yourself.

It's a nice pretty spot to fly the kite with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.

Caden was a little sleepy but he woke up to watch the activities.

And of course he was anxious to get out as soon as he realized everyone else was having fun.

Then we headed over to the waters edge and played on the rocks for a while. It was a bit dangerous but daddy held your hand as we climbed the rocks.

Caden took it easy because he is still learning to walk. But he's close.

And some flowers in the park had started to bloom. But we headed to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden after this to see some serious flowers.

This is in front of the Brooklyn Museum. They have a great water sculpture that spits out water at various intervals. The kids loved it.

And there were lots of cherry blossoms. Lots! It almost felt like it was snowing there were so many petals coming down.

Inside the gardens there were lots of flowers. But you only really like pink and purple flowers. You thought these were purple pansies because you read a book with purple pansies. But they were some other kind of flower.

Then we walked over to a little Japanese garden. There was a little house and deck on the edge of a pond.

And of course lots more blossoms around it.

And what was in the pond? Koi or Japanese carp. You liked the black ones.

You and Caden hung right over the edge to see them.

Then we wandered over to the indoors part of the garden but we didn't go in any of the buildings. Instead you started running away all the time and I had to go hunt you down.

There were lots of tulips (and photographers in this section).

And you shared a ice cream popsicle with mommy. Mmmmmm good.

After that we went to a great new Japanese ramen soup restaurant (Ippudo) in the city for dinner and then went to a Korean frozen yogurt place (Flurt) for dessert. And by that time it was almost 8pm so we headed home. On the way back there was a crazy cloud formation over the water. It was like a big undulating blanket.
