Another Travel Nightmare

On the way home to New York, our nonstop Jetblue flight was delayed again. We were supposed to leave at 7:55PM, but when I checked the status online at 5PM, our flight was already delayed by two hours and was scheduled to depart at 9:55PM. We decided to head to the airport at 7:30PM so we were not waiting for too long.

We boarded the plane at 9:15PM and then we waited and waited – there were thunderstorms in New York again which led to a ‘Ground Hold’ at JFK Airport. As a result, we were forced to wait at Nantucket Airport until our plane was cleared for takeoff. It is already 12:15AM (early Saturday morning) so we have been waiting for three hours. The captain assured us that we will take off for JFK at some point tonight so we are going to wait it out.

When the pilot reset the engine, he noticed a fan button was lit, which required maintenance to check it out. Unfortunately that meant we had to change planes at 1AM, reload the baggage, and reboard the new plane - you had fallen asleep and Caden was sleeping too, so I had to carry you off the aircraft in my arms. What a total drag!

We finally left Nanucket Airport at 2AM and landed at JFK Airport by 3AM. The terminal looked like a war zone with people sleeping everywhere on the floor and on the chairs since the airport was closed for a few hours and there were many delayed flights. Luckily all of our bags made it on the flight - we still waited over 40 minutes for car service to take us home.

Never again will we fly to Nantucket – next time, we’ll drive and take the ferry and hope for better travel karma. Daddy is lucky he did not travel with us this time - he would have been scarred for life and unlikely to fly anywhere with us again.
