First Big Girl Bed

Last night you slept in your new twin bed! We were surprised that you only got out once right after we put you down. I was expecting you to crawl out of your bed and into our bed during the night, but you are still sound asleep.
Daddy feared that you would roll off the bed during the night because you like to squirm around, so he put a pillow on the floor to lessen the impact onto the hardwood floor. Along with new sheets and new comforter, I also bought a long hippo pillow/stuffed animal that serves as a barrier or bedrail. Look how cute you look snuggling into your new bed last night!
Let's see how long this lasts. . .
You also just recovered from a stomach virus - we hosted a playdate at our house on Thursday afternoon. You were running around, sharing your toys and seemed perfectly healthy. About an hour after everyone left, you ate some pasta with Girlie – two minutes later, you walked over to me and puked all over my shirt/pants (lovely!). Girlie noticed you felt warm, so I took your temperature – it was 102.6. I gave you some Motrin, and you seemed fine.

By bedtime, your fever was down to 100.3; however, around 11:30, you woke up screaming so I checked on you and she were HOT. I carried you to the kitchen and you puked again (luckily this time into the kitchen sink) – poor Sophia. When I took your temperature, it was now 104.6 - YIKES! I was worried about febrile seizures due to a high fever, so I called Uncle Chester as well as your pediatrician to see if we should take you to the Emergency Room. After a bath and more Motrin, your fever was down to 102. The doctor said there must be another stomach virus spreading in the neighborhood since we were her third call regarding a kid vomiting with a high fever.

On Friday morning, you woke up with a fever of 104 - we kept you hydrated and gave you Tylenol every 4-5 hours to reduce your fever. Besides the fever and weak stomach, you seemed fine - dancing, laughing and singing with Girlie. On Friday night, Daddy and I went to a Broadway play, A Moon for the Misbegotten, with Kevin Spacey and Eve Best. Daddy also started to feel feverish and achey - poor Daddy! When we got home, Girlie said you puked up milk all over the couch and blankets. Poor Sophia too.

Luckily, Mommy did not get sick this time. Daddy and you had a lazy Saturday at home watching Bambi and playing on the computer. After doing many loads of laundry to clean all of the soiled clothes/blankets, I went shopping for a few hours to buy your new bed. Since my due date is only three weeks away, I have started to 'nest' and have so many things to do before your little brother arrives. How exciting - you will be a big sister soon!
