Around the Neighborhood

On Saturday I woke you up at 7:30 and we got dressed and had some scrambled eggs for breakfast. At 9:00AM Girlie came by to look after you for 5 hours. You were beside yourself. You must have known it was Saturday and felt cheated. Daddy went to go run some errands and then came back around 2:00PM to find you fast asleep. When you woke up we had a few snacks and then went to walk around the neighborhood. When we go to the elevators now you love to push the buttons. You are finally tall enough to do that.

I wanted to head over to a new area for you to see. We also took a new path too. There's a little pathway under the Manhattan Bridge that many people don't know about. "Are you coming?"

Here you are pointing to the train that passed overhead.

It's pretty loud. You actually looked a little worried.

Here's the underside of the bridge looking up. I hope nothing falls down.

Why risk it. "Run!"

You were in a very sociable mood saying hello and waving to everyone who passed by.

And then when no one was around you would run again.

"Mailbox". You learned that from Elmo. Mr. Noodle had to send some mail on a mailbox just like this one.

If you look closely in the distance you can see some people waiting outside one of the buildings. There was supposed to be some dance event going on that I wanted to take you to. But it looks pretty formal. There was a sign out side, "Please be quiet. Performance in session." I don't think they would have liked a baby screaming inside. As we walked by you came to this spot and squatted down. You've done this before. I think you are inspecting the ground.

The other thing you like to do is to sit down on stoops.

"Okay I'm sick of this hat. Can I take it off please?"

Much better.

Such a sad but cute looking face in this picture.

Here you are trying to touch the lens of the camera.

After that we circled back by way of the bridge park.

There's a little dog area under the Manhattan Bridge that I didn't notice before. You quite liked the dogs because they were tiny. You don't really like big dogs.

Then we went to sit on the rock beach and watch some kids throw rocks into the water. You can see some lady in a funny outfit behind you. Someone was taking some fashion photos. The little girls on the beach were screaming, "Supermodel! Supermodel!" It was quite funny.

Before we made it out of the park you again sat down on a stoop next to this lady. She though you were very cute and tried to make conversation. But you just sat there. And after a minute you got up and left. Very funny.

After we got home we ate some more and then I gave you a bath because you were stinky. We played a little and then I put you down. Not a peep. Fast asleep right away.

It sounds you had a fun Saturday - I love the photos of you walking around the neighborhood (esp the close-ups where you have hat-head).

I just spoke to Daddy - he sounded exhausted on the phone. He deserves a special treat after watching you for an entire week. Hmm - now I have to think about it.

I just returned from dinner - I went to an Indian place called Tamarind. I ordered Saag Chicken and Dal - the yellow dal tasted like the kind Som/Tanya used to always make for us. YUMMY!

Now I have to do some work before I hit the sack. Hugs and kisses. Just a few more days until I'm home. Thanks again to Daddy for taking care of little Miss Sophia while I am overseas.
