Month 19 Stats

Here's some hideously overexposed shots of you. We were a little late this month with your monthly pictures. And you are so squirmy now!

So you are about 1 and 1/2 years old now (19 months). Here is a list of things that you are up to now:
  • Talking. You can say quite a lot of words now. You rarely use two words together though. If I ask you what something is you can say, "hat" or "bika" (bicycle). You can't pronounce things that well but we can usually figure out what you are trying to say. You also can use words to make things happen. Your favorite words are "No", "Milk", "Shoes" followed by "Out" or "Go", "Food", "tofu" (your favorite food), "berry", "water", "naked" (which you say when we take your shirt off), and "Elmo" (your favorite DVD).
  • "Nobody". We're not sure what you mean by this but you say this when you are upset. Recently you've just been saying it for no reason though.
  • Tantrums. You have already started your 'terrible twos'. They really aren't that bad but you do get frustrated at times. You hate it when we don't give you something you want, when you can't get something out or can't get something to fit together (like your toy cups), and sometimes for no discernible reason at all. They are usually short-lived and consist of you crying, hitting us (not too hard), turning away from us, or lying face down on the floor.
  • Colors. This week you learned your colors. You are still getting used to them but you now know what I'm talking about when I say "red" or "blue". That was a tough thing to teach you.
  • Jumping. You recently learned to jump. You've been trying for a long time but you could never get any air. Now you get a tiny amount of air every other try.
  • Running. You run all the time now. It looks terribly dangerous to us because your arms are flailing around and you don't look that stable.
  • Eating with utensils. You're still not very good but you can eat reasonably well with a fork and spoon. We always help you out because you would starve but you're improving all the time.
  • Face/Name recognition. You mom pointed out in the comments that you can now recognize others and recognize their name too. Especially Nicole!
That's about it. Maybe your mom can think of some other things you've been doing now.

Daddy captured most of what you have been doing lately.

You have also started to recognize familiar faces and associate names with them. When we show you photos of our family and friends, you can point out Som, Tanya, Toshi, Nicole, Grandma, Grandpa, Hal-mi (for Hal-mo-ni) and Hal-ji (for Hal-a-bo-ji). It's very cute. Your grandparents will be so impressed when we see them in a few weeks on our trip to LA and Minneapolis.

Some days, you wake up in a good mood and are very affectionate (e.g., give lots of hugs and kisses) while others you wake up in a crabby mood and just throw mini-fits about everything. That's okay - Mommy and Daddy do it too. :)
