Bronx Zoo

Today we went to the Bronx Zoo. It finally cooled off enough for us to actually go out this weekend.

We saw a peacock.

We saw a gazelle.

We saw some giraffes. And an ostrich too (just behind the tree.)

We saw a cheetah. And he saw us too.

He had a friend too.

You wanted to walkaround so we made sure you were hydrated under the sun.

We saw a zebra.

Such pretty patterns on his head.

I can't remember what these were called. Something like plukos.

We saw another peacock.

This time you got a chance to get up close.

Here you are looking at a yak.

Here's the lion. At every zoo I've ever been to the lion is lying down, in the shade, far away.

Then it was time for some food. You had worked up an appetite.

You just wanted to keep watching the animals though.

Oh is that a yawn? Don't fall asleep now. We're going to see some bears.

You finally got your second wind and mommy had to run just to keep up with you.

You were so excited to see the bears.

When we got there the bear was scratching his butt on the wall.

He eventually came over to say hello.

He looks just like a stuffed animal.

The polar bear learned a lesson from the lion. He was napped out in the shade too.

There was a big tiger but he didn't want look at us.

We saw some big fish.

We saw a pair of camels. We also saw some monkeys after this. They were your favorite. You kept saying, "jump, jump". And the monkeys would jump. It was inside though so we couldn't take a good picture. After this we headed over the children's zoo area where mommy took some photos.

Daddy decided to sit that one out on the bench.

In the children's zoo, we saw prairie dogs, ducks, wallabees (similar to kangaroos), fish, alligators and turtles too.

They also had a petting zoo where kids could feed the animals. When we walked in, this goat had jumped the fence and was begging for some attention (and food too).

We also saw sheep, horses, chickens, and cows too.

There was also a large peacock with his beautiful feathers - check it out!

You were wiped out after three hours of running around the zoo. As soon as we drove out of the parking lot, you were fast asleep. What a fun Saturday.
