Wedding & Fourth of July

This past weekend you and mommy headed out to Seattle. I ended up joining you on Friday night. Before I arrived you went over to Tanya (in the picture) and Som's place where I was going to meet you. You no longer scream around Tanya.

Here you are playing with Som. He was very happy to hear you are excited about cell phones too. He's a cell phone fanatic.

Here Som is checking to see if his diet has made his waist smaller than yours.

Som and Tanya left for New York that night and so we saw them off and headed back to our apartment building to sleep. The next morning we went to Old Navy to buy you some shoes and we also picked up a ball and sunglasses. Then we headed out to Gas Works Park to walk around and enjoy the sun.

I pointed out the water and some boats to you but you were more interested in the ball.

Here we are at the top of a hill. Right after this picture you threw the ball and daddy had to go sprinting down the hill to get it before it went into the water.

Once I knew what you were up to I was prepared.

Here's a nice shot of you and mommy sitting on the hill.

"Hey how did daddy get back there. I better throw the ball."

You had so much fun running around.

And you loved the sunglasses.

Here's why it is called Gas Works Park by the way. The old gas works for the city is still there but it's no longer doing anything.

When we got back to the car you tried out driving it around the block.

Later on we went over to David and Michelle Harnett's new house. You played with Claudia in the wading pool. What a nice view they have.

Here's Michelle and Ethan.

Here's David cleaning up Ethan. He grabbed a box full of cut up fruit on the counter and it spilled all over the top of him.

The next morning you had one of your few chances to watch TV. We watched the Animal Channel. You actually woke me up this morning. You slept in our bed that night and I awoke to find you were lying next to me and whispering "daddy... daddy..." It was very cute. Much better than the alarm clock.

After we got up we went out to Pike Place Market. We have a book that Tanya gave you about this place. They sell lots of vegetables, fruit, meat, fish and flowers.

Then we met up with mommy's friend Eunhee to have brunch at Cafe Campagne.

Here's Eunhee, mommy, and you in front of the market.

Then we all went back to the market to check out the food.

Here's some of the fish they sell - halibut cheeks, lobster tails and prawns in the back. They are all huge although it's hard to tell from this picture.

Here's another good shot.

We also bought you some fresh raspberries. You went nuts! You are just like mommy. You basically ate the whole box. We tried to take it away but you would have none of that. Raspberries are your new favorite food.

We stopped by the nearby park and watched the big cruise ship pull out of dock.

Then we went over to mommy's friend Katie to see her family. They just had a new baby. So tiny.

Then we headed over to the Hajduk's house. The reason we were in Seattle was to attend David and Becky Aronchick's wedding. So while we were there you stayed at their house with their son Oscar and the baby sitter. This week you have suddenly gotten separation anxiety and were crying loudly as we left.

Then we headed over to the synagogue for the wedding. Here is David Aronchick on the right and his brother Chris on the left. David and his wife are Jewish so they had a traditional Jewish wedding which is a little different than what we did.

For one thing daddy and all the men had to wear a yarmulke - a white tiny hat.

And they had to stand in a chuppah. Here Becky is making rings around David.

After that we went to a post-wedding reception. Here I am with some of my friends. One the left is David (who we visited earlier), Chris (David's brother), me, Ty (who we went skiing with at Alta), and Craig (whose house you were staying at). We all had to wear tuxedos.

Here we are with the Harnett's. Everyone looks very good.

It's hard to see but the other thing they do at a Jewish wedding is lift the bride and groom up on chairs. You can see Becky up in the air and you can see David too with his white yarmulke.

So as not to wake you up, we crashed at the Hajduk's place after the wedding. The next morning everyone was a little groggy.

While everyone was getting ready you and I went outside to practice walking up stairs.

Then we walked up to the top of Queen Anne for breakfast and then went to a park to work it off. You love swings.

You also tried out a new rocking toy at the park.

Later on we walked around our apartment and ran into the wedding couple. How funny. It was at a restaurant on a pier. You loved looking at the water and boats.

And that was the end of our trip. We flew back home the next morning and watched the fireworks for July 4th from our apartment balcony.
