New Terms

Your mom made me laugh this week. She hadn't heard two terms before. I thought I'd post them so you know what they are.

Bonk. To bonk is to run out of energy when you are doing some physical exhaustive work like running. It's also called "hitting the wall".

Hindenburg. I said to your mom that something "went down like a Hindenburg". The Hindenburg was a zeppelin filled with hydrogen. A zeppelin is like a big balloon that actually transported people around. A zeppelin (hard shell) is like a blimp (soft shell). They aren't used much now except for advertising at sports events. Hydrogen is lighter than air so it makes the zeppelin or blimp rise. Unfortunately hydrogen is also flammable (it burns like paper). The Hindenburg is famous because it exploded while landing in New Jersey and it is one of the first disasters caught on film and radio.
