Belated Birthday Celebration

After a fiasco with your babysitter tonight, Lisa and I celebrated our birthdays by throwing a cocktail party at Lisa/Steve's apartment in Tribeca. Alywin, who is the son of your nanny Girlie, was supposed to come to our apartment by 6pm, but he got lost on the subway. While we waited for Alywin, Steve dropped off Luke at our house and Daddy drove back with Steve to their apartment. I watched both Luke and you for 30 minutes - it was good practice for when we have two kids of our own. At first, you wanted to play with Luke and tried to kiss him.
However, whenever I tried to save Luke from your smotherings by picking him up, you got extremely jealous. Instead I tried to have you both lay down on the two boppy pillows. . .but that did not work for long.
Since you missed your afternoon nap (due to the baby shower), you were a bit cranky. Instead I fed you a bottle and decided to put you to bed earlier since you threw a fit whenever I paid any attention to Luke.
Alywin finally arrived at 7:30pm - I was putting you down into your crib so that he only had to watch Luke. We fed Luke a bottle and then I checked on you one more time before leaving for the party.

I arrived at 8pm and luckily no one else had arrived yet - Lisa organized everything with the caterer, so we just had to show up. She did a great job - everyone was wowed by all of the space and by all of the food! I mean there was so much food that was beautifully set up around the house! Daddy was chatting with the bartenders about movies and music (and also drank a lot of vodka!).
A few friends started showing up around 8:30pm - Brittany and her fiance Adam were the first to arrive.
Brittany brought us two beautiful cakes from Two Little Red Hens Bakery - check them out! One was a vanilla buttercream and the other one for Lisa was a chocolate cake with chocolate pudding filling - it was heavenly.
Since we postponed our party by a week, most of my friends could not make it, but it was fun to reconnect with a few old friends from The Knot and other NY circles. Before midnight, our friends sang Happy Birthday and we enjoyed eating the cakes and all of the other desserts.

Daddy was exhausted (and drunk) so we left the party at 12:45 and arrived home just before 1:00AM. While I was talking to Alywin, you started to cry so I picked you up and helped you fall back asleep. Luckily, you did not wake up Luke who was sleeping in our bedroom. Steve and Lisa are going to pick up Luke in the morning so they could continue to entertain guests at their house. See you in the morning!
