Today we went to brunch at a belgian restaurant called Markt - Daddy and I shared a croque madame (grilled ham and cheese with eggs on top) and mussels steamed in garlic and cream. It was delicious. You enjoyed some homemade macaroni and cheese, a few strips of bread and a few french fries too. After brunch, we walked around the Meatpacking District - it is where the meat distributors used to be located but has turned into a hip neighborhood with fashion shops, restaurants and bars. You fell asleep in the baby bjorn so Daddy and I browsed in a few interesting stores: Earnest Sewn (made-to-measure jeans); girlshop (one of my friends from business school helped launch the website 5 years ago); and Auto (ecclectic mix of high priced goodies for babies and adults).
In the afternoon, your Daddy took a nap while we went shopping for Girlie's birthday gift. We bought her some make-up from Lord & Taylor and some cupcakes from Sugar Sweet Sunshine.
At night, we watched the Superbowl with David, Carley, Havana and Cairo. David just bought a new 50" HDTV for his bedroom so Carley invited us over. It was the Seattle Seahawks versus the Pittsburg Steelers - the game was played in Detroit, Michigan. Daddy and I are not big NFL football fans but I wanted to watch the Superbowl because the Seahawks were playing and also to check out the commercials.
We snacked on chips and hot dogs in the kitchen and just listened to the first quarter. You had fun playing with Cairo and Havana - especially pushing around the box filled with legos. You also climbed on top of their furniture like you do at home - luckily you avoided any big falls. It was a boring first half - the commercials were not very exciting either. We watched the half-time show with the Rolling Stones - the lead singer, Mick Jagger, is over 65 years old and was still rocking out (and still a terrible dancer). We went home after the 3rd quarter when the score was 14-10. . . and unfortunately the Seahawks did not score again. The Pittsburg Steelers won the Superbowl, 21-10.
