Morning Walk in Paris

While you were at home with daddy, I was in Paris. On the last day there, before I headed to the airport this morning, I took a long walk around Paris. From the Westin hotel which is near the Louvre Museum and the Place Vendome, I walked down to the Champs-Elysee which is one of the main commercial streets in Paris (kind of like a 5th Avenue or Broadway). It is also where the final lap of the Tour de France takes place. I stopped by a patisserie and bought a chocolate croissant. Yummy!

Next I stopped at the Arc du Triomphe. It's a little dark but you'll never forget the shape of it.
Then I headed toward the Eiffel Tower. I crossed the Seine River and walked past the Invalides (where the tomb of Napoleon is kept).

The last stop was the Place de la Concorde where many Japanese tourists were taking photos. I asked one of them to take a picture of me but he missed the top of the statue!
Here's a better shot of the tower.

Near the hotel, I saw several tiny cars parked on the street - a mini-cooper and another one called the mini-car. The mini-car is smaller than a mini-cooper (which is already tiny). It only fits two people and has no trunk or back seat - having a small car in Paris is useful so you can easily find a parking spot.

Your Daddy bought a book called "This is Paris" by M. Sasek. That's a picture of it on the right. It is an old children's book that he read when he was young. It was first published in the late 1950s but has recently been rereleased. The stories are quite cute. Your Daddy bought the books for New York, London and Venice as well. When you are older you can match up the pictures in the book to the pictures here.
