Sucking Face and Food

Two big events this week.

First off, for some reason you are confusing mommy's face and her boob. Whenever mommy burps you, you start sucking on her face. What makes this particularly funny is she is sooooo ticklish. She can't stop laughing. We have some video footage of you doing this as well. This was a tough photo to take but I got a good one. I have a theory that when she kisses you, you think her nose is a nipple.

Big event number two. It's time for you to start eating real food. We have to ease you into this however. We do this by giving you some rice porridge made of breast milk and rice powder. It really has the consistency of breast milk since there isn't much rice powder in there. But the most important thing is to just get you started as opposed to making sure you actually eat anything.

So how did it go? You were pretty good. Better than I expected. You didn't seem to fuss much when I put the spoon up to your mouth and after a while you actually were opening it before the spoon got there. As for swallowing I think you got a few swallows in. Most of it was squeezed out of your mouth as you tried to suck it down which is what you'd do if you were drinking a bottle. You made quite a mess and tried to grab the spoon but overall you were a pretty good kid.

So we'll have to keep doing this every night for a while until you get the hang of it. Eventually we can put some more rice cereal in the porridge so that it is more like you are eating food instead of eating breast milk.
