Mommy's Gone!

Your mom left today to go to Seattle to attend some work meetings. She comes back on Friday. That means it's you, me, and Allison until late on Friday night. Your mom is very upset about going away because she has never really been away from you for even one whole day. Every day since you were born your mommy has taken care of you. I managed a few weeks away from you when you went down to Arizona and when your mom took you to Seattle a month or so ago. So I'm a little used to it. Your mom is not at all used to it and was very sad last night. Fretting and fussing that she won't be able to see you. And Allison said today she had tears in her eyes when she left. So sad! Here you are in your blue chair that vibrates. You are really getting tired of this thing because I think you know this is where we put you when we have to do something that doesn't involve you! :)

So while she is away we are going to make sure we make one post a day so you mom has some pictures to look at and to cheer her up. Let's get started with post number one. We had an interruption. Your mom just called. She landed in Seattle and called us from the plane. Unfortunately you were already asleep. So sad for everyone! Here you are on the day bed after I changed your diaper and fed you a little snack before dinner came at 8:00p.m.

You were very good tonight. No fussing or anything. I thought maybe you'd miss mommy but I don't think you are quite aware enough yet to know when your environment changes drastically. We played with your toys for a while and bounced you around. And I did "Ready, 1, 2, 3" where I say those words and then lift you up into the air. You seem to like being in the air or at least standing or sitting much more than lying down these days. You are bored staring at the ceiling when you are on your back. You constantly fight to get up straining your neck to lift your head. You're not quite strong enough in the arms to lift yourself up. I'm sure that will come soon.

This is us playing on the bed. I got your four crunchy cubes out and you did tummy time and tried to grab them. When they are out of reach you fight to get to it but you still can't quite coordinate your arms and legs to propel you forward. You can only spin around and roll over. If you can't sit up then you always roll over from your back onto your stomach. You then tire yourself out keeping your head up and get a little grouchy. We put you down at 8:30p.m. as always after I fed you a few ounces of breast milk. We also need to tell mommy about your feeding. She keeps a 'diary' for when you poop and feed. Here's how you did today.

What a good daddy!! Reading this blog brought many tears to my eyes :(

I miss you both already. My flights were fine except that my boobs got rock hard from not pumping for 10+ hours. Too bad all of the breastmilk I just pumped is going to waste!

I hope you are not constipated from the solid food and can poop tomorrow.

Look forward to reading tomorrow's blog. Hugs and kisses from Seattle. . .
