Today is Father's Day. Yipee! Father's Day is probably the most overlooked holiday of the year. I think it's because dads don't usually mind not making a big deal about it. All I wanted to do was wake up late and get some good food. Fortunately both of those things came true. This picture on the right is from about a week ago. Allison took the picture. Funny huh? Holy cow that's a big gut. Boy you can see how much weight you've gained in your legs and gut over the last few weeks! Chubby baby!
We've been feeding you rice cereal to get you used to eating solid food but now we've added vegetables. Your mom boiled carrots and beans in the pot and I pureed them in our food processor. Then your mom put them in ice cube trays and froze them so we always have some fresh food for you to eat. We just defrost it. Here you are eating carrots today. Very messy and the orange stains everything. You puked most of it up a little later on. We'll see how long we have the patience to keep making your food. I think it's better for you than the stuff that comes in jars so maybe we'll keep it up for a while
And more tummy time. You are so good at this now that you will roll over from your back so you can see what's going on almost every time we put you down. When we put you on the day bed you've almost fallen off a few times now and managed to fall off once when I was asleep. You were crying and mommy was all worried. Your head took a hard crack on the wood floor. I think you were okay though. No bruise or anything.
For food today we went to Alias on Clinton Street which is fast becoming our favorite food street in New York. We tried to go to Clinton Street Bakery first but it was packed. Alias was nice and quiet so we ended up there. Mommy had a burger and daddy had a shrimp omelette sandwich with shredded pickles. Sounds weird huh? It was excellent. The waitresses thought you were very cute and people walking outside would wave to you through the window you can see in the picture.
We then walked over to the place you see above - The Pickle Guys. They have all kinds of pickles - hot, sour, half sour, tomatoes, garlic, sweet peppers, hot peppers, etc. The pickles are just amazing! We bought some half sour, hot and sweet peppers. Yummy. Then we came home. Mommy made our favorite fish en papillotte dish and daddy made some ice cream out of basil. We bought a ice cream maker last weekend at Crate and Barrel and we wanted to try it out. Both the fish and ice cream were very yummy and we still had a chocolate purse that we bought down at Almondine to finish the night off. A very good Father's Day. Especially for my first one!
