Your grandparents flew to NY today to visit you for a week. We met them at their hotel in midtown (Hotel Stanford on 32nd street - it's a mini-Koreatown). You were quite cranky this afternoon. I think it's because you are teething again or maybe you were just too hot? You had quite a workout crying for an hour or so. After I put some of the Oragel on your gums, you seemed to settled down a little bit. Then I tried to feed you again. Your dad came to the hotel around 6:30pm and calmed you down some more. We fed you a bottle and then I put you in the stroller for a walk around the block. You fell asleep right away since you missed your afternoon nap.
We went for dinner at Gam Mee Oak which is the Korean restaurant located at the bottom of the Hotel Stanford. Two of your grandfather's friends were waiting at the restaurant. Since it was quite busy and there wasn't a table for 6 available, we split up. Your dad and I ate at a Korean-style table (we sat on the floor) and your grandparents ate with their friends nearby. We ordered bean-dae-duk (mung bean pancake), a plate of boiled beef brisket and bib bim bap.
When we were finished eating, I walked over to your grandpa's table to tell them we were getting ready to leave. . . . .suddenly, he fainted out of his chair. He had two shots of soju and it knocked him out. It was quite a scare! While I was supporting him in his chair, he started to faint again. Your grandma was trying to feed him some water and put cold compresses on his head since he was sweating. This is the second time he has fainted while visiting us -- we called 9-1-1 and the paramedics arrived a few minutes later. They checked his vital signs in the ambulance and said he was fine. . . . but he should avoid any alcohol because it doesn't agree with him. That's it - no more drinking for grandpa!!
You slept through the entire fiasco. Your grandparents went upstairs to their hotel room and continued to chat with their friends. Your dad and I took you home on the subway. We took you out of the car seat, changed your diaper and rocked you to sleep again. Lucky for us, you fell right back to sleep and are dreaming away in your bassinet.
