Taking a Bath
Every two or three days or so, we need to give you a bath. You don't get too dirty but you get a little stinky now and again. From all the drinking of milk, you get dribbles that go into your ears and around your neck. We try to wipe it away but it gets stuck in your little folds of baby fat. And then it kind of turns to cheese - nobody wants cheese in their neck.
And of course you are pooping (2 times a day) and peeing (8 times a day) all the time so we want to make sure we get all of that out of your baby folds. And you also get something called 'cradle cap' which is kind of like dandruff - some dried up skin on your scalp that leaves your skin a little rough. It's usually in the front of your scalp. And for some reason even your feet get a little stinky even though you don't wear any shoes or socks. Your ears also get a little crudded up with ear wax and also some more flaky build up. It's hard to clean your ears - you don't really like that at all. It sounds like you are very dirty, but it's really not that bad.
So your mom fills up a little baby bath container with some warm water while I get you out of your clothes and your diaper. Mommy puts you in the container and washes you down. And then mommy uses a measuring cup (from the kitchen) to rinse you off. She then gives you to me and I put you into something that is part blanket and part robe. It's all white. It's got a little hood for your head. You look like Superwoman or a karate fighter. I dry you off and dress you up again. You usually don't mind getting wet. You look a little confused initially. I make funny faces and dance around to distract you so you don't start thrashing around and get soap or water in your eyes. When you get water on your mouth you start licking which makes your mom and me laugh. You usually get a little upset when I'm drying you off. I think you are getting cold while I'm doing it. And then you are squeaky clean. This is a funny shot. I had to stand on top of the bathtub while your mom was cleaning you.
